REACH Webinar: Utilizing Social Media Monitoring Tools for Enhanced Research and Publication at Universitas Airlangga

The Research Center in Advancing Community Healthcare (REACH) at Universitas Airlangga conducted a webinar titled “Harnessing Social Media Monitoring Platforms for Research and Publication” on February 27, 2025. The webinar attracted a diverse audience, including researchers, academics, students, and professionals seeking to enhance the quality of research and scholarly publications.
Webinar Overview
Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, M.Si., initiated the session, highlighting the importance of social media monitoring tools and their potential societal impact. Dr. Dessy Harisanti, S.Sos., M.A., addressed the role of these platforms in research and academic publishing. Mahendra Tri A. S., dr., Sp.A(K), Ph.D., discussed surveillance strategies aimed at reducing neonatal mortality in Indonesia, presenting challenges and potential solutions within this context. The session was moderated by Dr. Retno Indarwati, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., who facilitated interactions among participants.
Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Indicators
A central topic of the webinar was the analysis of maternal and neonatal mortality indicators, utilizing frameworks such as the Indonesia Neonatal Emergency and Critical Care system. Participants explored integrated efforts necessary to reduce maternal mortality rates (MMR) and infant mortality rates (IMR), which encompassed improving healthcare workforce capabilities, informing policy decisions, and addressing infrastructural requirements. The functions of platforms like Scopus AI and Brand24 were emphasized, demonstrating their effectiveness for researchers in data collection and analysis.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Academic Publishing
The discussions offered insights into interdisciplinary collaboration and the incorporation of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), for data analysis. Additionally, participants examined strategies for successful academic publishing, including journal selection, methodological rigor, and manuscript quality enhancement, aimed at increasing acceptance rates in reputable international journals.
Fundraising Initiative
In addition to knowledge-sharing, the webinar featured a fundraising initiative for the Indonesian Cancer Foundation (YKI), raising a total of Rp. 2,582,000 to support its programs. The event concluded with a reaffirmation of commitment to fostering a research-oriented culture and enhancing the efficacy of social media monitoring platforms in advancing academic and societal objectives. REACH at Universitas Airlangga expressed its ongoing commitment to supporting scholars and researchers in their pursuit of innovative and impactful academic work.
