Rector’s Graduation Message: The Importance of Honesty and Integrity for Success

The graduation ceremony for the Doctoral, Master’s, and Undergraduate programs at IPB University was held on October 30 at the Grha Widya Wisuda Building (GWW). A total of nine doctoral students, 56 master’s students, and 535 undergraduate students received their degrees during this event, which was inaugurated by the university’s Rector, Prof. Arif Satria.

In his address, Prof. Arif highlighted the importance of honesty and integrity as foundational values for achieving success. He conveyed three main messages aimed at preparing the graduates for future challenges.

Embracing a Growth Mindset

Firstly, he urged the graduates to adopt a growth mindset and to seek continuous learning opportunities. Prof. Arif noted that in a rapidly changing world, it is vital for alumni to enhance their competencies effectively. He stated, “Therefore, remain a true learner. We can learn from anyone and anywhere, and we can continue to grow by learning.”

Importance of Practical Skills

Secondly, he emphasized the significance of practical skills, remarking that individuals who can acquire knowledge quickly, demonstrate high creativity, and possess strong imaginative capabilities are likely to excel in the future.

Developing Character and Integrity

Lastly, Prof. Arif encouraged graduates to develop their character, integrity, discipline, and interpersonal relationships. He referenced a proverb underscoring the importance of character, stating, “When you lose your money, you lose nothing. When you lose your health, you lose something. When you lose your character, you lose everything.”

Messages from D. Dadan Hindayana

D. Dadan Hindayana, Chief of the National Nutrition Agency, congratulated the graduates and welcomed them into the Alumni Association of IPB University. He emphasized that the graduation marks the beginning of a new journey in a constantly evolving world and encouraged graduates to view challenges as opportunities for growth and innovation.

Optimistic Outlook from Faculty

A representative from the Faculty of Agriculture expressed optimism that the graduates would emerge as champions and effective leaders by continuously developing their character and maintaining a quick-learning mindset.

The ceremony reaffirmed IPB University’s commitment to instilling vital qualities in its graduates that are essential for success in an increasingly dynamic global landscape.
