Zhejiang University Integrates AI to Redefine Learning and Teaching

Zhejiang University (ZJU) showcased its latest advancements in AI-driven education during the 2026 World Digital Education Conference held in Hangzhou. Centered on the theme “AI + Education: Transformation, Development and Governance,” the event highlighted how artificial intelligence is reshaping higher education and talent development.
ZJU President Ma Yanming delivered a keynote speech on cultivating innovators in the AI era, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary learning, creativity and digital transformation. The university also hosted a parallel session exploring intelligent innovation in higher education and demonstrated future classroom technologies, including advanced quadruped robotics.
During the conference, ZJU contributed to international discussions on AI ethics and digital education governance, while also signing cooperation agreements with overseas universities. Several university initiatives received recognition, including its AI learning assistant and Global SDG Summer School.
International guests visited the university’s Future Learning Center, where students demonstrated cutting-edge projects such as agricultural robots capable of picking strawberries, teleoperation systems using virtual reality and other AI-powered innovations.
According to university leaders, the center is designed to help students progress from learning concepts to creating real-world innovations. Through AI integration, practical training and interdisciplinary collaboration, Zhejiang University aims to cultivate future-ready talent equipped to solve global challenges.
