Imperial College London and GE Vernova Partner to Advance Next-Generation Energy Systems

Imperial College London and energy technology company GE Vernova have launched a strategic collaboration to advance research and innovation in global energy systems. The framework agreement brings together academic expertise and industry capability to address key challenges in the power sector, including grid integration, digital optimisation, and energy system resilience.

The partnership spans research, education, and professional development, with joint projects, student fellowships, and internships forming core components. Imperial students will gain practical experience at GE Vernova sites in the UK, while company experts will engage with Imperial’s training and development programmes.

Initial research areas include carbon management, power grid stabilisation, fuel cells, and energy systems supporting artificial intelligence infrastructure. The collaboration also explores advanced modelling and improved electricity distribution technologies.

Both institutions aim to accelerate the transition toward a more reliable, sustainable, and secure energy future while developing the next generation of energy sector leaders.
