Beijing Normal University Hosts Cultural Exchange Event between Chinese and Japanese College Students

Beijing Normal University (BNU) recently hosted a cultural exchange event that brought together over 100 Japanese university students. This event, designed for interaction and understanding between Chinese and Japanese youths, involved participation from various departments including the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, the School of Foreign Languages and Literature, the School of International Chinese Language Education, and the School of Arts and Communication.

Welcoming Ceremony

During the welcoming ceremony, Professor Miao Xingwei, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages and Literature, spoke about the importance of youth exchanges in strengthening relations between China and Japan. He expressed hope that such interactions would deepen friendship and cooperation among young individuals from the two countries.

Acknowledgment of Cultural Interests

Professor Takakubo Yutaka from Nihon University’s Faculty of Commerce acknowledged BNU’s hospitality and highlighted the interest among Japanese students in Chinese culture. He noted that the exchange presented a valuable opportunity for students to engage with and learn about Chinese culture and education and expressed a desire for continued exchanges between youth from China and Japan.

Activities and Cultural Workshops

Following the opening speeches, BNU students engaged in various activities with their Japanese peers. These activities included discussions about academic pursuits and cultural experiences, group photography, and the exchange of souvenirs, which symbolized friendship that transcends national boundaries. Faculty members organized cultural workshops, such as lacquer fan making and Chinese calligraphy, that were well received by students eager to experience traditional Chinese culture.

Participation of Renowned Universities

The Japanese delegation comprised representatives from 49 universities, including renowned institutions like the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, Waseda University, and the University of Tsukuba. This exchange event not only bolstered connections between young people from both countries but also contributed to enhancing cultural understanding and collaboration.
