APU Workshop Helps Participants Build Confidence for High-Impact Presentations

The Strategic Research Institute (SRI) and School of Foundation (SoF) at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) recently organised a workshop titled “Speak with Purpose and Confidence: High-Impact Presentations,” aimed at strengthening participants’ communication and presentation skills.
The session explored how effective speakers establish a strong presence, communicate clear messages, and build meaningful connections with audiences. Participants examined key elements of impactful presentations, including storytelling, pacing, verbal and non-verbal communication, authenticity, and purposeful delivery.
The workshop also highlighted the importance of transforming complex research and professional knowledge into clear, engaging narratives that can connect with diverse audiences. Through interactive activities, participants reflected on their individual strengths, experiences, and personal qualities, gaining greater awareness of how these factors influence their communication styles.
A key focus was authenticity. Rather than adopting a fixed presentation style or imitating others, participants were encouraged to understand and embrace their distinctive voices. This approach can help speakers develop confidence, strengthen their presence, and communicate with greater conviction.
Interactive exercises provided opportunities to exchange perspectives, experiment with new techniques, and evaluate existing presentation approaches. The workshop reinforced the importance of clarity, intentional delivery, audience awareness, and confidence in creating memorable presentations.
Overall, the programme provided practical strategies and reflective experiences to help participants communicate ideas more effectively and support their academic and professional development.
