Indian Ambassador to China Visits Peking University to Strengthen Academic Ties
Peking University (PKU) welcomed Indian Ambassador to China Vikram K. Doraiswami for an official visit aimed at strengthening academic and cultural cooperation between India and China. The ambassador was accompanied by Minister Shweta Singh and met with PKU leadership at Linhuxuan.
The delegation was received by He Guangcai, Chair of the Peking University Council, alongside PKU Vice President Fang Fang. During the meeting, He highlighted PKU’s longstanding commitment to Indian studies and its rich history of academic and cultural exchanges with India. He expressed the University’s interest in expanding institutional partnerships, fostering deeper collaboration in education and research, and creating more opportunities for student and youth exchanges between the two countries.
Ambassador Doraiswami commended Peking University’s achievements in Indian studies and its efforts in cultivating globally minded graduates. He reaffirmed his support for strengthening ties between Indian universities and PKU through expanded academic cooperation, educational partnerships and people-to-people engagement.
Following the discussions, the delegation visited the School of Foreign Languages, where they were introduced to the University’s programmes and initiatives related to Indian studies. The visit underscored the shared commitment of both sides to advancing international collaboration, promoting mutual understanding and enhancing educational exchanges between India and China.
