RMIT Vietnam Bachelor of Languages student Nguyen Thanh Truc has gained international recognition after representing Vietnam at the International Leadership Program 2026, held at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. She was selected as one of only 20 fully funded delegates from more than 250 applicants worldwide and received the Global Peace Award for her active participation throughout the programme.
The United Nations-hosted initiative brought together young leaders, innovators, and changemakers from across the globe to explore leadership, diplomacy, international cooperation, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through workshops, policy discussions, and cross-cultural exchanges, participants developed leadership skills and built networks to address global challenges.
For Truc, the experience transformed her understanding of leadership. She discovered that effective leadership is not only about influence but also about listening, embracing diverse perspectives, and working collaboratively towards shared goals. Conversations with fellow delegates inspired her to pursue greater involvement in international studies, diplomacy, and global cooperation.
At RMIT Vietnam, Truc has actively contributed to student leadership, research projects, social innovation initiatives, and cross-cultural programmes. Her achievements reflect the university’s commitment to developing globally minded graduates equipped to create meaningful social impact.
Truc hopes to encourage more young people to pursue international opportunities and become leaders who contribute positively to their communities and the wider world.
