UET Lahore VC Meets Student Society Leaders, Unveils New Development and Student Welfare Initiatives

Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, TI, met with the presidents of all student societies to discuss the university’s vision for student engagement, academic excellence, campus development, and welfare initiatives. Senior university officials, including Registrar Muhammad Asif and Director Student Affairs Dr. Amna Niazi, attended the interactive session.

During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the important role of student societies in enriching campus life and announced that society presidents would receive certificates of recognition during the university’s convocation ceremony. He also directed societies to submit annual event calendars to improve planning and coordination.

Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir shared updates on ongoing development projects, including hostel renovations, modernization of lecture theatres and libraries, improvements to sports facilities, and the construction of new hostels. He also announced increased funding for student societies, the launch of a Qarz-e-Hasna Scheme to support student entrepreneurship, and the purchase of new computers, buses, and an ambulance.

Highlighting UET’s academic achievements, he noted that the university currently has 446 PhD faculty members and maintains a strong graduate employability rate, with nearly 90 percent of graduates securing employment within six months. The session concluded with a question-and-answer segment, reaffirming UET’s commitment to student-focused governance and continuous institutional improvement.
