Advancing Safer Robotics: Key Focus of Commencement 2026

Advancing Safe Physical AI: MBZUAI Commencement 2026 Showcases Breakthroughs in Real-World Robotics, Autonomous Systems, and Control Barrier Safety Research

At Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence Commencement 2026, the focus on next-generation robotics highlighted the critical shift from autonomous movement to safe, real-world deployment of intelligent machines. As humanoid robots achieve unprecedented feats of speed and autonomy, including marathon-level performance, researchers are increasingly addressing the urgent challenge of safety in dynamic environments. Graduate Salamah Almazrouei, part of the university’s first Robotics cohort, represents this new frontier of innovation, focusing her research on control barrier functions that ensure AI-generated robotic motions remain safe, stable, and physically feasible. Her work bridges large language model-generated commands with real-world robotic execution, supporting applications in healthcare, manufacturing, and human-robot interaction. With strong institutional support and a rapidly growing robotics programme launched in 2023, MBZUAI continues to strengthen the UAE’s position in advanced robotics, physical AI systems, and sovereign technological capability.
