SLC-SFLU Enhances Academic Collaboration with Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang in Indonesia

Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union (SLC-SFLU) has expanded its academic collaboration with Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) in Indonesia, following an institutional visit on August 7, 2025. This meeting was characterized as both a courtesy call and a discussion platform aimed at exploring future academic partnerships.
Delegation and Meeting Participants
The SLC-SFLU delegation comprised Dr. Leo Esteene L. Galap, Director of Global Affairs, and Dr. Rhonalie B. Apilado-Dumo, Program Head of Teacher Education. They met with UMM officials, including Vice Rector Muhamad Salis Yuniardi, Vice Deans Bayu Hendro Wicaksono and Prof. Dr. Sugiarti, as well as heads of various educational programs at the institution.
Commitment to Internationalization
The discussions emphasized a shared commitment to internationalization and global engagement. Dr. Galap introduced initiatives such as Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) and proposed additional opportunities for academic cooperation between the two institutions.
Campus Tour
Subsequent to the discussions, the Office of Internationalization at UMM provided a guided tour of the university’s 38-hectare campus, which features advanced academic buildings, a grandstand, hotels, a mosque, a hydropower plant, and a gasoline station among other facilities.
Conclusion
This visit reflects the ongoing efforts of both SLC-SFLU and UMM to strengthen international cooperation and enhance opportunities for students and faculty.
