On May 20, 2025, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held the 2025 Research Invention & Community Development Exhibition (HITEX) at the Airlangga Convention Center (ACC) on its MERR-C Campus. This event attracted considerable attendance, showcasing a variety of research and community development innovations from several major universities across Indonesia, including the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Padjadjaran University (Unpad), along with various industry partners.

UNAIR’s Innovations at HITEX 2025

During the exhibition, UNAIR’s Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK) presented several salt-based products derived from Sargassum sp. seaweed at a designated booth. The offerings included deodorants, toothpaste, body scrubs, and mouthwash, all developed by the Post-Harvest, Processing Technology, and Bioproducts Research Group. Terry Previo Avianto, a lecturer at FPK, indicated that HITEX 2025 served as an important platform for highlighting long-term research efforts and expressed optimism regarding the potential commercialization of these innovations.

Community Engagement and Student Feedback

The exhibition featured strong engagement from attendees, who actively explored the various booths. Muzayyanah Mutiara Stani, a student from UNAIR’s Faculty of Public Health (FKM), commented on the informative experience provided by HITEX 2025, particularly noting a booth from the Faculty of Vocational Studies that showcased an app focused on ancient temple construction education.

Future Recommendations

Stani recommended that future editions of HITEX could benefit from enhanced promotional efforts to increase visibility and attract a wider audience. In summary, HITEX 2025 served as a significant opportunity for collaboration and commercialization in the academic and research sectors.
