HELP University and ISCA Partnership: Innovating the Future of Accounting Education

On March 27, 2025, HELP University formalized a Co-operation Agreement with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for students pursuing careers in accounting. This partnership positions HELP University as a significant partner of ISCA in Malaysia, focusing on maintaining high academic standards within the institution.

Strengthening Academic and Professional Ties

The collaboration seeks to strengthen the academic and professional ties between Malaysia and Singapore, with the goal of establishing new global standards for accounting practices. The agreement was signed by Professor Dr. Liew Teik Kooi, Vice Chancellor of HELP University, and Ms. Fann Kor, CEO of ISCA, in the presence of various representatives from the accounting and industry sectors.

Enhancing Employability

Various initiatives have been developed by both organizations to improve the employability and mobility of Malaysian students, as well as international students enrolled at HELP University. These initiatives encompass the acknowledgment of ISCA qualifications within HELP University’s Bachelor in Accounting (Hons) program, the establishment of specialized training programs, the launch of the Level Zero Programme, and the integration of ISCA’s e-learning platform, ISCAccountify.

Joint Certifications and Opportunities

The partnership will also introduce joint certifications, offer bursaries for outstanding accounting students, and explore the potential designation of HELP University as an ISCA Recognised Learning Organisation (RLO) and an Overseas Examination Centre (OEC) in Malaysia. Additional opportunities include professional internships, job placements, and research initiatives focused on ESG compliance and regulatory governance.

Collaboration and Future Demands

The Chancellor and Co-founder of HELP University, Professor Datuk Dr. Paul Chan, emphasized the importance of collaborative intelligence in this partnership and highlighted the need for an ecosystem that supports graduates in adapting to future demands. He characterized the initiative as a significant collaboration between a Malaysian private university and ISCA, reflecting a shared commitment to maintaining high professional standards.

Professor Dr. Liew noted the impact of emerging technologies on the accountancy profession and stressed the importance of education that prepares students for future challenges. He pointed out that the partnership aims to provide learners with globally recognized credentials and valuable industry insights, enhancing their prospects in a competitive job market.

ISCA CEO, Ms. Fann Kor, expressed positive expectations regarding the collaboration, indicating that it represents a crucial advancement towards facilitating global mobility for accounting students.
