Chulalongkorn University Signs MOU and Hosts Concert with Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture

On January 29, 2025, Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts formalized an academic collaboration with the Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The signing ceremony was attended by officials from both institutions, including Prof. Dr. Kumkom Pornprasit, dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, and Mr. Shohbek Ergashev, first vice-rector for youth affairs and spiritual and educational affairs at the Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture. The event was overseen by Mr. Fakhriddin Sultanov, the consul-general of Uzbekistan.
Collaboration Objectives
The collaboration aims to enhance research initiatives and strengthen ties between the faculty and students of both universities. The signing ceremony was supported by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pornprapit Phoasavadi and Asst. Prof. Dr. Prapon Kumjim from the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, along with Dr. Pornrak Chowvanayotin, who documented the occasion through photography.
Cultural Performances
Subsequent to the MOU signing, a series of musical and dance performances took place at the Music Hall within the Art and Culture Building of Chulalongkorn University. The Uzbekistan delegation included twelve professors recognized as national artists, along with accompanying faculty and students. The performances by Chulalongkorn University were led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pattara Komkam, head of the Music Department, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Suphannee Boonpeng, head of the Dance Department.
Event Impact
The event marked the initiation of a cultural and artistic partnership between Chulalongkorn University and the Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture. Approximately 200 guests from Thai and international communities, alongside representatives from various embassies, attended the event, underscoring a collective interest in promoting artistic collaboration and cultural exchange.
