Tianjin University’s School of New Media and Communication: Approval of Multiple Interdisciplinary Projects
Five interdisciplinary projects from the School of New Media and Communication at Tianjin University have received approval for funding in 2024. The initiatives include two projects supported by the National Social Science Fund of China, two by the National Natural Science Fund of China, and one project funded by the Ministry of Education (MOE) focusing on Humanities and Social Sciences. These projects span various fields such as computer science, journalism, communication, and management.
Integration of New Liberal Arts with Emerging Engineering
The School has emphasized the integration of New Liberal Arts with Emerging Engineering disciplines, promoting interdisciplinary research that aligns with advancements in intelligent media technology.
Project on Economic Uncertainty
One prominent project is led by Associate Professor Lu Jiahui, which investigates the mechanisms of transmission and intervention strategies pertaining to expectations of economic uncertainty within online public opinion. The goal of this research is to formulate effective strategies aimed at addressing public concerns related to economic uncertainties.
Research on Civilizational Perspective
In another project, Associate Research Fellow Yang Yilu is focusing on enhancing China’s recognition and identity from a civilizational perspective. This work seeks to promote a more objective understanding of the country’s modernization efforts.
Quality Assurance in Deep Learning Models
Researcher Wang Zan is exploring quality assurance for deep learning models, emphasizing the identification and correction of regression defects. This research is significant for improving the quality of intelligent applications within journalism and communication, with the aim of reducing potential biases and ensuring the accuracy of information dissemination.
Human-Machine Cooperation in Manufacturing
Additionally, young scholar Huang Dian’s project, which examines human-machine cooperation in complex manufacturing interactions, has also received MOE funding. This project represents an important step in integrating natural and social science research within the interdisciplinary framework of the School.
