UNU-EHS and Eurac Research Extend GLOMOS Programme Partnership Through 2036

United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS) and Eurac Research have renewed their partnership under the Global Mountain Safeguard Research (GLOMOS) programme for the 2027–2036 phase. The agreement includes Eurac’s financial commitment and strengthens long-term collaboration on mountain research and sustainability.

The programme focuses on advancing disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and sustainable development in mountain regions worldwide. It will continue joint research, publications, capacity-building, expert exchange, and international events, reinforcing science-based solutions for vulnerable highland communities, particularly in the Global South.

UNU-EHS leaders emphasized that the renewed agreement enhances GLOMOS as a bridge between global research and UN policy processes. Eurac Research highlighted strengthened coordination between its Bonn and Bolzano teams as key to generating practical, transdisciplinary solutions.

The partnership also opens exploration of a future UNU hub focused on resilience in Himalayan uplands and basins, further expanding its global impact.
