UCLouvain and KU Leuven Mark 600 Years of Shared History with Celebration in London

UCLouvain and KU Leuven marked their shared 600-year history with a special alumni gathering in London, bringing together a vibrant community of graduates living in the UK. The event, hosted at the Residence of the Belgian Ambassador, highlighted the enduring global connections and academic legacy of the two sister institutions.

Attended by senior representatives, including UCLouvain Rector Françoise Smets, the evening celebrated the achievements and diversity of nearly 900 alumni based in and around London, spanning fields such as engineering, finance, and social sciences.

Discussions during the event reflected a strong interest in strengthening alumni engagement, with plans underway to establish a dedicated UCLouvain Alumni Chapter in London in 2026.

The gathering underscored the universities’ commitment to fostering international networks and maintaining strong ties with graduates, reinforcing their influence beyond Belgium through active global alumni communities.
