MMU and FINAS Sign MoU to Enhance Malaysia’s Creative Film Industry Ecosystem
Multimedia University (MMU) and the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen Malaysia’s creative film ecosystem and bridge academia with the film industry. The agreement was formalised on 13 April 2026 at MMU Cyberjaya.
The MoU was signed by MMU President Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud and FINAS CEO Dato’ Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib, witnessed by FINAS Chairman Dato’ Hans Isaac.
Under the collaboration, FINAS will support curriculum development, industry networking, and knowledge transfer through expert engagement. MMU will contribute academic expertise, research capabilities, and student participation in industry programmes, while also providing campus facilities for joint initiatives. The partnership also introduces recognition of prior experiential learning (APEL) to certify industry professionals.
This initiative aims to close the gap between education and industry practice, nurture future filmmakers, and strengthen Malaysia’s national creative and film industry landscape.
