Empowering Future Leaders in AI and Digital Rights at AUPP

Three information technology students from the American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP)—Taing Muyleang, Chan Panha, and Eung Laimeng—recently participated in a fully funded study visit to Singapore. This opportunity was made possible through the collaboration of Open Development Cambodia (ODC) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

Insights Gained on Digital Rights

During their visit, the students gained valuable knowledge regarding digital rights and the policy frameworks designed to address algorithmic harm. They examined the essential role of global internet governance and the importance of multi-stakeholder approaches in promoting democracy through digital engagement and ethical artificial intelligence (AI).

Commitment to Ethical Technology Development

The experience aimed to enhance regional collaboration in developing responsible and human-centered AI solutions. The students showcased their commitment to ethical technology development and the protection of digital rights through an innovative project that addressed issues related to AI bias.
