Malaysian Minister of Higher Education Visits University of Tsukuba President NAGATA

On July 28, 2025, Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, the Malaysian Minister of Higher Education, led a delegation that included Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sufian Jusoh from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and eight other members to the University of Tsukuba in Japan. The delegation met with President NAGATA Kyosuke, Vice President and Executive Director for Education KATO Mitsuyasu, and Regional Director for Southeast Asia NOMURA Nakao to discuss various matters.

Discussions and Initiatives

The discussions centered on the support provided to the University of Tsukuba, Malaysia (UTMy), and other related initiatives in Malaysia. Updates on the current status and future development plans for UTMy were highlighted, underscoring the Malaysian government’s commitment to advancing Higher Technical and Vocational Education and Training (Hi-TVET). The dialogue also included potential collaborations in artificial intelligence research involving Japan and the United States, which might extend to additional partnerships with Malaysia.

Outcomes of the Visit

This visit is anticipated to enhance cooperation between Malaysian higher education institutions and the University of Tsukuba.
