Chung-Ang University Graduate School of International Studies and WIPERTH Collaborate for Plogging Event on Seoul Campus

On March 1, students from the Graduate School of International Studies at Chung-Ang University participated in a plogging event organized in collaboration with the civic environmental organization WIPERTH. This event was part of the curriculum for a course focused on ‘Cultural Diversity and Global Citizenship.’

About WIPERTH

WIPERTH, which stands for ‘Wiping Earth’, advocates for plogging, an activity that merges jogging with litter collection. Hwang Seung-yong, the head of WIPERTH, led the event and shared insights on the significance of integrating environmental care into daily activities. Hwang has been associated with this initiative for the past two years.

Importance of Environmental Awareness

Prior to the start of the plogging, Hwang underscored the importance of environmental awareness and highlighted common litter types found in urban areas, such as cigarette butts, disposable plastic cups, and remnants from fireworks.

Event Execution

The plogging event took place on the university campus and its adjacent areas. Students participating in the initiative wore WIPERTH uniforms and utilized tools such as tongs and trash bags to collect litter. Though the duration of the event was brief, it allowed students to engage in practical experiences related to environmental concerns and reflect on sustainable lifestyle choices.

Social Responsibility and Sustainability

This collaboration serves as an example of the social responsibility efforts undertaken by the Graduate School of International Studies and WIPERTH, illustrating how individual actions can contribute to community awareness and the promotion of a sustainable future.
