Exploring Potential Collaborations Between Naresuan University, the University of Tokyo, and JICA, Japan

A delegation from Naresuan University, led by President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarintip Tantanee, recently conducted a visit to the University of Tokyo in Japan. The delegation included several faculty members, notably: Asst. Prof. Dr. Kumpon Subsomboon, Dean of Engineering; Asst. Prof. Dr. Korakod Nusit, Associate Dean for Administration and Head of the Civil Engineering Department; Asst. Prof. Dr. Polpreecha Chidburee, Deputy Head of the Civil Engineering Department and Director of the Regional Center of Geo-Informatics and Space Technology; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Pornnarin Taepavarapruk, Director of the Naresuan University Center for Animal Research.

Objectives of the Visit

The primary objective of the visit was to explore potential academic collaborations in areas of mutual interest, which include student and staff exchanges as well as research consultancy opportunities. Representatives from Naresuan University expressed a desire to establish a research partnership with the University of Tokyo and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) that would focus on climate change adaptation measures. Thailand has been identified as a prospective case study location for assessing sustainable development initiatives between the two institutions.
