UPM Strengthens Sustainability Commitment Through Planetary Health and Sustainability Blueprint Forum

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has reinforced its commitment to sustainability and planetary health through the introduction of the UPM Planetary Health and Sustainability Blueprint (PHSB), aimed at fostering awareness and embedding sustainable living practices across the university community.
The forum, led by Dr. Ahmad Salahuddin Mohd Harithuddin from the Centre for Strategy and Corporate Relations (PSPK), gathered university leaders and experts to discuss the role of knowledge, research, and institutional practices in advancing sustainability and planetary health goals.
UPM Vice-Chancellor, Dato’ Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, emphasized the university’s dedication to translating academic expertise into real-world impact, particularly in benefiting society and the environment. He stressed that research should be evaluated not only by metrics but also by its meaningful contribution to sustainability.
Prof. Dr. Zaharin Aris highlighted that the blueprint represents a holistic approach that integrates knowledge, values, and action, while Prof. Madya LAr. Dr. Suhardi Maulan described UPM’s green campus as a living laboratory for sustainability innovation.
Participants also discussed biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services, and data-driven decision-making in addressing environmental challenges. The forum reflects UPM’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its sustainability agenda and build a resilient, responsible future for society and the environment.
