UNDIP Strengthens World-Class University Vision Through Partnership with RWTH Aachen University
Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has taken another significant step toward its World-Class University ambition by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RWTH Aachen University, Germany, one of Europe’s leading technical institutions and the alma mater of Indonesia’s third President, B.J. Habibie.
The agreement was signed on June 2, 2026, at RWTH Aachen University in Germany. The UNDIP delegation, led by Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, was welcomed by RWTH Aachen’s leadership and international cooperation team. The partnership builds upon collaborations established since 2023, including joint doctoral supervision, academic exchanges, and research cooperation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Suharnomo highlighted the strategic and historical significance of the collaboration, noting that RWTH Aachen’s strong reputation in science and technology aligns with UNDIP’s commitment to advancing research excellence and innovation.
The partnership currently supports collaborative research and doctoral supervision in areas such as chemical recycling of electronic waste, sustainable refurbishment models, engineering geology, hydrogeology, and applied microbiology. Discussions are also underway to expand cooperation in logistics and operations management.
During the visit, the UNDIP delegation toured RWTH Aachen’s research facilities and innovation centers. The collaboration is expected to enhance international research opportunities, academic mobility, and innovation capacity, further strengthening UNDIP’s global academic presence.
