Swinburne Sarawak Graduation: 294 Graduates Celebrate as Future Changemakers

On October 30, 2025, Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus held a graduation ceremony at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), marking the completion of studies for 294 graduates. The event signified an important transition for these individuals as they received their degrees, reflecting their academic accomplishments.
Degrees Awarded
During the ceremony, 245 undergraduate degrees were awarded across various disciplines. Among the recipients were 102 graduates from the business field, 43 from computer science, 36 in engineering, 32 in design, 6 in information and communication technology, 9 in media and communication, 15 in science, and 2 students who earned double degrees in Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Robotics and Mechatronics alongside a Bachelor of Computer Science. Additionally, nine diplomas in Business Management were granted.
Master’s and Doctoral Degrees
The ceremony also recognized 28 master’s degree recipients, with 21 graduates completing the Master of Business Administration (International) program. Other degrees awarded included those in construction management, information technology, engineering, and science. Twelve doctoral graduates received their Doctor of Philosophy degrees in various fields.
International Representation
The event highlighted the international presence of Swinburne Sarawak, with graduates from countries such as Malaysia, Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Gabon, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Myanmar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Turkmenistan, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Furthermore, 38 graduates were awarded degrees in absentia.
Valedictorian Speech
Gavin Ng, the ceremony’s valedictorian and a Bachelor of Computer Science graduate, shared his experiences, emphasizing the need to seize opportunities and learn from challenges. Ng encouraged his peers to remain humble and contribute to their communities as they pursue their aspirations.
Ceremony Officiation
The ceremony was officiated by The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, the Sarawak Premier and Pro-Chancellor of Swinburne Sarawak, alongside Chancellor Professor John Pollaers OAM. Graduates received their awards in the presence of other notable figures, including Professor Pascale Quester, the Vice-Chancellor and President of Swinburne, along with members of the university’s leadership team.
