Chula’s Environmental Research Institute Co-Hosts the 7th EnvironmentAsia International Conference 2025 on Sustainability Solutions

Chulalongkorn University’s Environmental Research Institute for Sustainability, in collaboration with the Thai Environmental Institute of Higher Education (TEIHE), co-hosted the 7th EnvironmentAsia International Conference 2025, which took place from September 4 to 6, 2025, at The Landmark Bangkok Hotel. The conference was centered around the theme “Integrating Efforts to Tackle the Triple Planetary Crisis,” aiming to enhance academic collaboration and promote sustainable solutions to pressing global environmental challenges.
Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony included remarks from Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, and a welcoming address from Associate Professor Dr. Ratcha Chaichana, President of TEIHE. Tokens of appreciation were presented to keynote speakers by Associate Professor Dr. Pantawat Sampanpanish, Director of the Environmental Research Institute for Sustainability.
Participation and Contributions
The event attracted more than 200 participants from various academic institutions, research organizations, government agencies, and the private sector. Contributions were received from over 20 domestic institutions and organizations across ten countries, including Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, the Philippines, Nepal, Vietnam, Bangladesh, India, and South Korea.
Urgent Need for Action
During the conference, Professor Dr. Puriwat emphasized the urgent need to address global challenges, noting that the interconnected impacts of environmental crises create overlapping social and ecological consequences that pose threats to humanity, ecosystems, and future generations. The conference served as a platform for interdisciplinary cooperation, fostering shared knowledge and responsibility among participants.
Conference Highlights
Key highlights of the conference included oral and poster presentations, panel discussions, networking sessions, and expert lectures addressing critical environmental issues. Notable presentations included “Three Crises, One Planet: Insights on Global and Asian Pathways Forward,” delivered by Marie Jurisoo from the Stockholm Environment Institute, and “Ecology-inspired Solutions for Healthier Environment and Climate-resiliency in Agricultural Production,” presented by Associate Professor Dr. Sanjay Swarup from the National University of Singapore.
