Bridging Business Education Theory and Practice at Multimedia University

On February 5, 2025, students from the Faculty of Business at Multimedia University participated in a practical learning experience through visits to POS Malaysia and the Bank Negara Museum. This initiative was organized by lecturers Siow Yung Ern and Ng Woan Ming from the Diploma in Accounting program.

Visit to POS Malaysia

The visit began with a tour of POS Malaysia, the country’s primary mail service provider. Students received an overview of the mail processing system, which encompassed the collection and sorting of letters based on their destinations and the logistics necessary for next-day deliveries. A key component of the visit included a look at POS Fulfilment, a service where POS Malaysia assists customers with packing and shipping orders from its warehouse. This aspect of the visit provided students with insights into inventory control and the practical application of accounting principles in service-oriented business environments.

Exploring the Bank Negara Museum

In the afternoon, the group proceeded to the Bank Negara Museum and Art Gallery, where they explored Malaysia’s economic history and financial structure. The museum features interactive activities and educational displays that emphasize financial management and the role of Bank Negara in the nation’s economic growth. Additionally, students had the opportunity to view recent additions to the museum’s art collection, showcasing works from Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

Significance of the Visits

This dual-industry visit was noted as a significant educational opportunity, enhancing the connection between theoretical knowledge and practical application in business contexts. The insights gathered during this event are expected to benefit the students’ academic and professional growth.
