UNAIR Reinforces Commitment to Student Support through Comprehensive Scholarship Programs
Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has reinforced its commitment to supporting students through a variety of scholarship programs. The university collaborates with both government and private entities to offer financial aid designed to help alleviate the financial burdens faced by students.
Scholarship Programs Overview
Prof. Dr. Hadi Subhan, Director of Student Affairs at UNAIR, highlighted the significance of these programs for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The Directorate of Student Affairs plays a crucial role in disseminating information about available scholarships and connecting students with relevant opportunities.
Kartu Indonesia Pintar Kuliah (College-KIP) Program
One of the prominent initiatives is the Kartu Indonesia Pintar Kuliah (College-KIP) program, which serves as a cornerstone of UNAIR’s scholarship offerings. In 2024, approximately 1,400 new students received KIP-K scholarships, which cover tuition fees for the duration of their studies and provide a monthly living allowance. Prof. Subhan indicated that this program supports around 20% of the university’s economically challenged students, enabling them to pursue higher education without significant financial constraints.
Collaborations and Partnerships
Additionally, UNAIR collaborates with various organizations to expand the range of scholarship options available. Partnerships include initiatives by local government entities, such as those from the Surabaya city government, as well as private sector sponsorship from banks and foundations. Detailed information concerning these scholarships can be obtained from the official Instagram account of the Directorate of Student Affairs.
Scholarship Eligibility and Applications
Each scholarship features distinct eligibility criteria established by the respective providers, and the Directorate of Student Affairs assists in relaying information to the relevant academic departments. Some scholarships are specifically designed for particular academic disciplines, thereby influencing the pool of eligible candidates.
Recent Scholarship Initiatives
Recently, scholarships from Van Deventer-Maas Indonesia became accessible at the beginning of the year. Prof. Subhan encouraged students in need to actively pursue scholarship opportunities and reaffirmed the Directorate’s commitment to aiding underprivileged students during the application process. In addition to scholarship opportunities, students facing financial challenges may also apply for tuition fee reductions based on their economic circumstances.
