Strengthening Global Partnerships: Newcastle University Delegation Visits Kyoto University

A delegation from Newcastle University, led by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Li Li, visited Kyoto University on 26 May 2026 to strengthen academic ties and explore new opportunities for collaboration. The visit highlighted the shared commitment of both institutions to advancing international partnerships in research, education, and student development.
During the visit, the delegation met with Professor Tetsuo Sawaragi, Executive Vice-President for Research Ethics, Integrity, Code of Conduct, and International Affairs, and Professor Yasuto Tachikawa, Vice-President for Long-Term Development and Planning. Discussions focused on expanding joint research initiatives, enhancing student mobility programmes, and fostering deeper academic engagement between the two universities.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to exchange perspectives on global challenges, interdisciplinary research, and strategies for nurturing international talent. Representatives also explored potential areas for future cooperation, including collaborative research projects, faculty exchanges, and the development of innovative educational programmes.
