MMU Team Recognized as Finalists in 2025/2026 CFA Institute Research Challenge Malaysia

Several students from Multimedia University (MMU) were identified as top five finalists in the 2025/2026 CFA Institute Research Challenge Malaysia, held on January 17, 2026. The team consisted of Muhammad Zariff bin Sazali, Muhammad Ashril bin Mazlan, Nurbaiti binti Saupi, and Mohamad Irfan bin Mohd Azmi, all pursuing degrees in the Bachelor of Finance program.

Team Guidance and Performance

Guidance for the team was provided by Faculty Advisor Madam Zarehan Selamat, CPA, along with industry mentorship from Mr. Bobby Lee Chia Yih, CFA. The team’s performance was characterized by effective collaboration, strong analytical skills, and a committed approach throughout the competition.

Competition Overview

The competition featured 46 teams representing 27 universities across the country. MMU’s team received commendation from judges for their thorough research and professional presentation. The CFA Institute Research Challenge aims to equip university students with hands-on experience in investment research, ethical decision-making, financial analysis, and valuation. Participants collaborate with faculty advisors and industry mentors to prepare detailed equity research reports and present investment recommendations to a panel of industry professionals.

Advancement to Local Final

As a result of their performance, the MMU team is set to advance to the Local Final, scheduled for February 7, 2026, where they will compete in the Sub-Regional stage of the competition.
