UTB-STE Connect 2025: Join the Biennial Congress for Innovative Solutions in Science, Technology, and Engineering

Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) has announced the upcoming biennial congress, UTB Science, Technology, and Engineering Connect 2025 (UTB-STE Connect 2025), following the success of its inaugural event held in 2023. The congress, themed “Technology Innovations for a Sustainable Future,” aims to provide a platform for academics, scientists, researchers, engineers, industry experts, and various stakeholders to share knowledge and develop solutions to contemporary sustainability challenges.

Opening Ceremony Details

The opening ceremony will take place at the Main Conference Hall of the International Convention Centre in Berakas. The event is expected to be attended by prominent figures, including Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, Minister of Education and Chairperson of the UTB Council. The ceremony will include the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a Doa Selamat, along with welcoming remarks from Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB. Following this, an opening speech by Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr Dayang Hajah Romaizah will officially inaugurate the congress.

Multimedia Presentation and Plenary Session

A multimedia presentation will follow before a plenary session led by Yang Mulia Professor Sibrandes Poppema, President of Sunway University. The ceremony will conclude with a token of appreciation given to the plenary speaker.

Co-Organizers and Conference Topics

This event is co-organized by several institutions, including Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), ASEAN University Network (AUNSEED-NET), COMSTECH, IBM, Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Sunway University, University of Technology Sarawak (UTS), among others. The congress will cover a variety of topics through five conferences and six featured events.

• The 10th Brunei International Conference on Engineering & Technology (BICET 2025), focusing on innovation in engineering and technology for a sustainable society.
• The 7th International Conference on Applied Computational Intelligence in Information Systems (ACIIS 2025), which will explore intelligent and resilient digital innovations for sustainable living.
• The 3rd International Conference on Business, Management and Information Systems (ICBMIS 2025), emphasizing technology innovations for sustainable practices.
• The 2nd International Conference on Agrotechnology, Beverage and Food (ICABF 2025), which will address issues related to sustainable agriculture and food security.
• The 2nd International Conference on Creative Arts Design and Technology (ICCArTe 2025), promoting sustainable and innovative design.

Featured Events

Additionally, the congress will feature the 3rd UTB University Presidents’ Forum, the 2nd UTB Women Leadership Forum, the 1st Global Conference on Industrial, Materials, and Manufacturing (GCIMM), a Postgraduate Colloquium, and the ASEAN Sustainable Ready Summit for Industry 5.0 Programme (SRI 5.0).

Event Schedule and Format

Scheduled for October 20 to 22, 2025, the congress will be held in a hybrid format, facilitating global intellectual discourse, knowledge exchange, and collaboration among participants. It aims to provide insights into emerging technologies while strengthening research and industry networks to promote sustainable development.
