Japanese Society of Chemical Engineers Honors UTP’s Dr. Norwahyu Jusoh for Outstanding Contributions in Chemical Engineering

Dr. Norwahyu Jusoh from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) has been awarded the Outstanding Asian Researcher and Engineer Award by the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan (SCEJ). This accolade honors individuals of Asian descent who have made significant contributions to the field of chemical engineering, particularly in areas such as energy, environmental issues, sustainability, and industrial development.

Achievements in Chemical Engineering

Dr. Jusoh’s achievements notably include her work on carbon capture technology and advancements in energy solutions, both of which contribute to sustainability efforts and address global climate challenges. She has been invited to present an Award Lecture at the upcoming International Chemical Engineering Symposia (IChES 2026) and to participate in the SCEJ 91st Annual Meeting at Kyoto University, Japan, scheduled for March 18 to 20, 2026. Additionally, Dr. Jusoh is set to author a review article for the Journal of Chemical Engineering of Japan (JCEJ).

In response to her recognition, Dr. Jusoh indicated that this award serves not only as personal acknowledgment but also as a testament to UTP and Malaysia’s contributions to the field. Furthermore, in February 2025, Dr. Jusoh was recognized as a finalist for the Young Energy Professional of the Year award at the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES), an event dedicated to identifying emerging talents in the energy sector. This recognition further underscores UTP’s standing as a center for impactful research and innovation aimed at addressing critical global issues while promoting a sustainable future.
