Interdisciplinary Research Matching Workshop: Building Collaborations in AI, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Waseda University

Waseda University recently hosted the “1st Interdisciplinary Research Matching Workshop” on July 23, 2025, focusing on fostering collaborations among experts in artificial intelligence, humanities, and social sciences. Organized by the Center for Research Strategy, the workshop aimed to explore innovative research methodologies and address social issues through interdisciplinary dialogue. Approximately 30 faculty members and researchers from various disciplines attended the event.

Workshop Presentations

During the workshop, ten researchers delivered three-minute presentations covering a range of topics, including autonomous driving, AI ethics, control engineering, and modern Japanese literature. Each presenter highlighted their research focus and identified potential collaboration opportunities.

Group Discussions

Following the presentations, group discussions allowed participants to share challenges in their research, explore insights from different fields, and engage in a productive exchange of ideas. This format facilitated open discussions regarding interdisciplinary collaboration.

Networking Session

The event concluded with a networking session, which provided attendees the opportunity to connect and communicate across professional boundaries. The workshop underscored the increasing importance of cross-disciplinary conversations, particularly in addressing the ethical and legal challenges associated with advancements in artificial intelligence.

Future Initiatives

The Center for Research Strategy intends to continue these initiatives, aiming to connect researchers with government, industry, and local communities to address pressing societal issues.
