Celebrating MIC Students’ Achievements and MOA Signing for 2025 at UTB

Micronet International College (MIC) recently organized a ceremony at Balai Khazanah Islam, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, to acknowledge the accomplishments of 36 students in two academic programs: the 14-week UTB-SP Bridging Programme in Computing (BriCOMP) and the UTB-MIC Computing Degree Programme.

Ceremony Highlights

The event recognized 10 students who successfully completed the Bridging Programme and 26 who finished the Computing Degree Programme. Proceedings included the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a welcoming address delivered by Ms. Sharon Chin, General Manager of MIC. Additionally, representatives from both student programs presented speeches during the ceremony.

Guest of Honour

Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), served as the Guest of Honour. In her opening remarks, she highlighted the successful partnership between UTB and MIC. She distributed certificates to the students and awarded Special Merit Awards to A’thiyah A’zimah binti Hj Md Khairul Azwan from the BriCOMP program and Alyzza binti Md Aminurzaman @ Ong Ching Ching from the Computing Degree Programme.

Memorandum of Agreement Renewal

The ceremony also featured the renewal of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the UTB-MIC Computing Degree Programme, along with the signing of a new MoA for the UTB-MIC Business Degree Programme. Key representatives from both institutions were present during this signing, including Yang Mulia Mr. Sylvester Yong, CEO of MIC, and Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah, representing UTB.

Attendees included members of the UTB University Executive, Mrs. Joyce Lim (Executive Director, MIC), along with staff and students of MIC.

Bridging Programme Overview

The BriCOMP program, established in 2020, aims to support students aspiring to pursue undergraduate degrees at UTB who do not initially meet admission requirements. Programs offered through BriCOMP include BSc (Hons) in Digital Media, BSc (Hons) in Creative Multimedia, and BSc (Hons) in Computing with various majors.

Computing Degree Programme Information

The UTB-MIC Computing Degree Programme permits qualified students to enter the second year of specific computing degree programs at UTB, covering majors such as Network Security and Software Development. Additionally, the UTB-MIC Business Degree Programmes assist students in transitioning into second-year undergraduate business programs at UTB, including the Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Marketing Information Systems and Business Information Management.
