UNAIR to Host HITEX: Showcasing Research and Innovations from Universities

Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is scheduled to host the 2025 Research Invention & Community Development Exhibition (HITEX), a national event focused on showcasing university research and innovations. The exhibition will occur on May 20-21, 2025, at the Airlangga Convention Center (ACC) located on UNAIR’s MERR-C Campus. The event expects participation from 24 state universities that have legal entity status, as well as various industrial partners.

Overview of HITEX

The Head of UNAIR’s Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Prof. Dr. Gadis Meinar Sari, indicated that HITEX will display a broad spectrum of research and community service initiatives, primarily from UNAIR’s academic community. Research representatives from multiple groups and centers will present their findings at designated booths, enabling institutions to highlight their research and development achievements.

Objectives of the Exhibition

The exhibition aims to introduce research and community programs with practical applications, as articulated by Prof. Gadis. The event seeks to foster collaborative efforts with industry partners to promote the commercialization of innovative technologies arising from university research.

Significance of Vaccine Development

A significant element of HITEX will be the symbolic presentation of seed vaccines developed by UNAIR for Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) and Swine Influenza. UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, noted this presentation as a demonstration of the university’s commitment to meeting public needs in alignment with national priorities. He emphasized the government’s encouragement for higher education institutions to make substantial contributions, particularly in public health, amidst the challenges posed by disease outbreaks.

UNAIR’s Role in Vaccine Research

UNAIR has been actively involved in vaccine research and development for both FMD and Swine Influenza, aiming to alleviate the economic and social impacts linked to these diseases. Prof. Nasih expressed the hope that these vaccines would positively affect the community.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Prof. Nasih reaffirmed that the development of these vaccines illustrates UNAIR’s research and technological capabilities, underscoring the university’s dedication to producing innovations that benefit society.
