Strengthening Strategic Collaboration between XJTU and Satbayev University

On April 10, a delegation from Satbayev University, led by Samgat Yermekbayev, the first vice president, visited Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) to enhance the strategic collaboration between the two institutions. This visit included the signing of a journal cooperation agreement.
Discussions on Collaboration
The discussions during the visit focused on broadening collaboration in areas such as talent development, joint research initiatives, and aligning educational practices with industry, all within the context of the Belt and Road Initiative. XJTU Vice-President Shan Zhiwei highlighted the significance of utilizing Satbayev University’s strengths across multiple disciplines alongside XJTU’s experience in integrating academic and industry-focused education.
Proposed Initiatives
Shan proposed three initiatives to further strengthen the partnership: establishing reciprocal faculty and student exchanges, advancing joint engineering research, and co-founding an academic journal platform dedicated to Central Asia-China relations.
Commitment to Partnership
Yermekbayev reaffirmed Satbayev University’s dedication to the partnership, expressing anticipation for enhanced collaboration in faculty-student exchanges, digital education, and scientific research. He specifically underscored the importance of quickly implementing academic exchanges, particularly in mechanical engineering, to maximize the benefits for both institutions.
Tour of XJTU Facilities
The visiting delegation also toured the State Key Laboratory for Manufacturing System Engineering and engaged with representatives from various departments at XJTU, including the School of Mechanical Engineering and the School of Aerospace Engineering. The discussions led to the establishment of several collaborative intentions, including faculty-student exchanges and joint research endeavors.
