IPB University Empowers Three Students for International Program at Chiba University

IPB University has expanded its international collaboration with Chiba University in Japan by selecting three students to participate in an international program. This selection was made following the university’s attendance at the Spring Institute of the Asia and ASEAN Center for Educational Research at Chiba University, which occurred from February 6 to 10.
Student Selection and Programs
The students underwent a comprehensive selection process. One student will partake in the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) Scholarship program, while the other two will join the Sakura Science Exchange Program for 2025.

Professor Yusli Wardiatno, Vice Dean of the Graduate School at IPB University, expressed optimism regarding the opportunities this initiative will provide in enhancing the international experience and research capabilities of the selected students.
Spring Institute Objectives
The Spring Institute is part of ongoing international cooperation efforts by IPB University aimed at curriculum development, the establishment of international networks, the enhancement of educational quality, and the improvement of the university’s global standing.
Discussions on Collaborative Initiatives
During the visit, Professor Yusli, along with Professor Titi Candra Sunarti and Harris Budilaksono, met with Professor Josaphat Tetuko Sri Sumantyo from Chiba University’s Center for Environmental Remote Sensing. Discussions focused on potential collaborative initiatives, including the establishment of a Double Degree program centered on environmental and remote sensing studies.
Double Degree Program Details
The proposed Double Degree program is specifically linked to the Natural Resources and Environmental Management Science Study Program, which already has multiple international partnerships.
Outreach and Promotion
Additionally, Professor Yusli was invited by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Tokyo to promote IPB University to students and staff at the School of the Republic of Indonesia, Tokyo (SRIT). He emphasized the variety of study programs offered at IPB University and highlighted that many alumni have risen to leadership positions in various sectors in both Indonesia and Japan.

SRIT, one of the oldest Indonesian schools abroad, follows the Indonesian education curriculum and currently provides educational services from kindergarten through high school.
Importance of Collaboration
The Indonesian Ambassador to Japan, Ir. Heri Akhmadi, underscored the importance of enhancing educational and research collaborations between Indonesian and Japanese universities. He called for Indonesian institutions, particularly IPB University, to adopt various programs that would foster connections and goodwill between the two nations.
