“UNAIR MOGGY Wins Silver Medal at Thailand Inventors’ Day 2025: Innovative Microalgae Power Technology”

Students from Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), known as the MOGGY team, achieved a silver medal at Thailand Inventors’ Day 2025 for their development of a Microalgae Power Plant Biomass and Oxygen Production technology. In addition to the silver medal, the team received a Special Prize from the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA) and a recognition for Best Presentation on behalf of Indonesia.
The MOGGY System
The MOGGY system leverages microalgae to sustainably generate electricity and oxygen, addressing the growing demand for eco-friendly energy solutions. The head of the UNAIR delegation, Andini Carolina, highlighted the importance of microalgae in fostering environmental sustainability and viewed the project as a crucial step towards a greener energy future.

The team encountered various challenges along their journey, including technical obstacles during the final trials and the demands of the competition, which required lengthy daily commutes. Carolina noted the strenuous nature of the event and the dedication required from the team.
