Meet and Greet International Students at MAGNET 2024: Networking and Cultural Exchange
PUTRAJAYA, Nov 27 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) was awarded the Best Country Booth Award at a recent international event at the Putrajaya Botanical Garden. This award was presented for its booth representing Egypt, which was noted for its innovative and engaging display among 20 other booths from various countries, including Pakistan, Japan, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Yemen, and South Korea.
MAGNET Initiative for International Students
The event included the “Meet and Greet International Students in Malaysia” initiative, known as MAGNET, which facilitated networking among 21 international students and two Global Buddies. Co-hosted by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) and Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), the initiative allowed students to explore Malaysia’s diverse cultural and educational landscape.
Engaging Activities and Challenges
Participants engaged in a range of activities, including a booth competition and an Explorace challenge. In this challenge, international student teams navigated through 30 designated checkpoints in Putrajaya. The event’s app was utilized for the random assignment of checkpoints, where teams scanned QR codes and completed educational tasks, including quizzes about Malaysia.
Traditional Games and Competitions
The activities featured traditional games such as sepak raga, coconut bowling, and a karaoke contest, providing students an opportunity to showcase their skills and creativity.
Record Achievement and Closing Ceremony
Notably, on the final day, the event made a significant achievement by entering the Malaysia Book of Records for the most international students participating in an Explorace event. The closing ceremony was attended by Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, Minister of Higher Education, who commended the event for fostering international collaboration and cultural exchange.
