HKU Achieves Record High Global Ranking with 53 Academics Named Highly Cited Researchers 2024
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has achieved a significant milestone by ranking 10th globally in the 2024 Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researchers list. This recognition includes a total of 53 HKU academics who have been identified as Highly Cited Researchers.
Hong Kong’s Academic Ranking
In this year’s evaluations, Hong Kong was ranked 8th among various countries and regions. HKU contributed substantially to this ranking, with 40 percent of the Highly Cited Researchers in Hong Kong affiliated with the institution. This represents the highest proportion of any local post-secondary institution.
Clarivate Analytics Recognition
Clarivate Analytics recognized 6,636 scholars from 59 countries and regions, selecting individuals based on their outstanding research contributions. The selection criteria emphasized the production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for specific academic fields within the Web of Science over the past decade.
Diverse Research Areas
The list of HKU’s Highly Cited Researchers features experts from diverse areas, including Chemistry, Computer Science, and Immunology, reflecting the university’s extensive research capabilities and its influence within the global academic community.
