Collaboration and Innovation Drive FTMM’s Remarkable Achievements at National Competitions
The Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline (FTMM) at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) hosted a ceremony on October 23, 2024, to commend students for their notable achievements in national competitions. The event took place in the Candradimuka Auditorium of the Nano Building at the MERR-C Campus and highlighted success at the 37th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) and the Energy-Efficient Car Competition (KMHE).
Ceremony Highlights
During the ceremony, FTMM Dean Prof. Dr. Dwi Setyawan underscored the importance of collaboration in addressing national challenges. He noted that the multidisciplinary approach of FTMM prepares students to engage across various scientific areas, emphasizing the role of collaborative efforts not only in educational contexts but also in faculty research and competitive activities.
Student Achievements at PIMNAS
The achievements at PIMNAS have been particularly attributed to the teamwork displayed by FTMM students. Notably, the Reefstoration Bot team received a gold medal for their poster and a bronze medal for their presentation in the PKM-GFT category. Additionally, the MOBIV team earned a bronze medal in the PKM-KC category.
Collaboration with Other Faculties
Collaboration with students from other faculties also played a significant role in these successes. For example, the AUVEST team, which included a member from FTMM and was led by a student from the Faculty of Public Health, secured gold medals in both the presentation and poster categories at PKM-KC. Furthermore, the CORTISCAN team, comprised of students from the Faculty of Science and Technology along with an FTMM student, won a bronze medal.
The Importance of Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Prof. Setyawan noted that a majority of the teams that achieved recognition were composed of FTMM students, highlighting the significance of interdisciplinary collaboration and technological integration in addressing modern challenges. Additionally, FTMM’s EV-OS team received a special award for the most aesthetically pleasing car at the 2024 KMHE.
Future Aspirations
Looking to the future, Prof. Setyawan expressed a desire to enhance collaborations both within FTMM and with other faculties. He proposed initiatives that could merge Indonesia’s cultural uniqueness, as represented by the Faculty of Humanities, with technology to increase global visibility. He reiterated that technology is essential for tackling complex societal issues, thereby reinforcing the necessity for collaborative efforts across diverse disciplines.
Conclusion
The recognition ceremony served to honor the hard work and teamwork of students, who have played a key role in elevating UNAIR’s standing on a national level. Under the slogan “Action Through Collaboration,” FTMM continues to promote synergy across disciplines in research, community service, and competitive participation.
