ChulaThaiYO to Perform in Sweden for the 129th King Chulalongkorn Memorial Commemoration

Chulalongkorn University’s Thai Youth Orchestra (CHULA ThaiYO) showcased its readiness for an international cultural mission during a press conference and final rehearsal held on 10 July 2026 at the Phra Mingkhwan Thai Education Building, Faculty of Education. The event marked the orchestra’s preparation before travelling to Sweden to represent Thailand at the 129th anniversary commemoration of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V)’s historic visit to Europe.
Chulalongkorn University is the only Thai university invited to participate in this prestigious event, highlighting its role in promoting Thai arts, culture, and international friendship. The rehearsal was attended by Chulalongkorn University President Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat and Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yootthana Chuppunnarat, who encouraged the student performers. The event also received strong media attention.
Comprising students from the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, CHULA ThaiYO has undergone intensive training under university faculty members and National Artist Dr. Sirichaicharn Fachamroon. The final rehearsal featured the complete performance program planned for Sweden, demonstrating the students’ artistic excellence and readiness as young cultural ambassadors.
The orchestra will perform in Ragunda, Sweden, on 19 July 2026, presenting Thai traditional music, classical dance, Khon performances, and cultural compositions. The program will conclude with Thai and Swedish songs, symbolizing the lasting friendship between Thailand and Sweden.
