Birzeit University Honors Excellence Award Recipients and Celebrates Academic Achievement

Birzeit University honored outstanding students during a recognition ceremony held on 13 July 2026 as part of its 51st commencement celebrations for the 2025/2026 academic year. The event was attended by University President Dr. Talal Shahwan, members of the University Council, faculty, and distinguished guests.

The ceremony recognized graduates who achieved High Distinction or Distinction, students who completed more than 400 hours of cooperative work, and recipients of the University’s prestigious annual awards, including the Gabi Baramki Award for Excellence, the Yousef Nawas Award, and the Farid Muna and Kanaan Khoury Award for Research in Business and Economics. The awards celebrated academic excellence, leadership, community engagement, and research contributions.

In his address, Dr. Shahwan congratulated the award recipients, emphasizing that excellence extends beyond academic results to include perseverance, responsibility, creativity, and meaningful service to society. He acknowledged the dedication of students, the support of their families, and the guidance of faculty members in helping them achieve success.

Despite the ongoing challenges faced by the Palestinian community, Dr. Shahwan described education as a symbol of resilience and hope. He also highlighted the University’s continued academic development, including the launch of its Human Medicine program next academic year, reaffirming Birzeit University’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and national development.
