Kathmandu University and University of Agder Successfully Host 19th IFIP WG 9.4 International Conference in Nepal

Kathmandu University, in collaboration with the University of Agder, Norway, successfully hosted the 19th International IFIP WG 9.4 Conference at Dhulikhel, Nepal, from May 25–27, 2026. The three-day event brought together over 100 participants from more than 25 countries, highlighting global engagement in Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D) and digital transformation research.

The conference featured 20 specialized tracks and saw the presentation of 75 research papers from international scholars representing diverse academic institutions. Full program details were made available through the official conference website.

Keynote addresses were delivered by Associate Professor Virginia Eubanks from the University at Albany, SUNY, and Professor Chaitanya Mishra from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, offering insights into digital governance, society, and development challenges.

The event was co-chaired by Prof. Dr. Manish Pokharel (Kathmandu University) and Prof. Antonio Diaz Andrade (University of Agder), with program coordination led by Prof. Devinder Thapa and Dr. Priyanka Pandey. The local organizing committee, chaired by Prof. Bal Krishna Bal, included Dr. Pankaj Raj Dawadi, Mr. Amrit Dahal, Mr. Sanjog Sigdel, and Mr. Dipesh Khadka.

A one-day Doctoral Consortium was also held on May 24, organized by Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology, further strengthening academic collaboration and doctoral research development in ICT4D.
