University of Colombo Named Key Academic Partner for Kotte Literary Festival 2026

Kotte Literary Festival 2026, themed “The Kingdom of Kotte: A Golden Era of Literature in Global Dialogue,” is set to celebrate one of the most influential periods in Sri Lanka’s literary heritage. The festival highlights the flourishing of classical Sinhala literature during the 15th century, particularly under the reign of Parakramabahu VI, a time marked by strong royal patronage and vibrant cross-cultural exchanges with regions including India, China, the Middle East, and Europe.
Designed as a dynamic platform for scholars, writers, researchers, and students, the festival will foster dialogue, research, and creative engagement that connects historical literary achievements with contemporary perspectives.
In a significant development, University of Colombo has been invited to join as a key academic partner. The university’s expertise in humanities and literary studies is expected to enhance the festival’s academic depth and collaborative impact.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to preserving literary heritage while encouraging new scholarship, positioning the festival as a bridge between tradition and modern intellectual discourse.
