University of Tsukuba President NAGATA’s Visit to Turkey: Strengthening Academic Partnerships and Collaboration

On February 11, 2026, President Kyosuke Nagata of the University of Tsukuba led a delegation during an official visit to Turkey, which included Vice President for Global Affairs Osamu Ohneda and Assistant Professor Mizuho Fukushige.
Visit to Boğaziçi University
The visit commenced at Boğaziçi University, where the delegation met with Vice President Fatih Usluer and other representatives to explore potential collaborations in Japanese language education and advanced research initiatives. The group also toured several notable research facilities, including the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute (KOERI), the Life Sciences and Technologies Application and Research Center (LifeSci), and the Center for Targeted Therapy Technologies (CT³). During these visits, they engaged in discussions with researchers affiliated with these institutions.
Discussions at Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University
Subsequently, the delegation proceeded to the Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University, where they held talks with Provost Hisakazu Mihara regarding the establishment of an inter-university exchange agreement and future cooperative frameworks.

The objectives of this visit include enhancing academic exchanges and fostering collaborative efforts between the University of Tsukuba, Boğaziçi University, and the Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University, which may yield significant benefits in the fields of education and research.
