Evaluation of Bachelor’s Horticulture Program and Post-Harvest at Instituto Superior Cristal

On November 7, 2025, the Instituto Superior Cristal (ISC) conducted an evaluation of its Bachelor’s Program in Horticulture and Post-Harvest. Dr. Luis Aparício, the Head of the National Directorate of Legalization at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture (MESSK), led the evaluation, supported by evaluators Dr. Marçal Gusmão and Dr. Delfin da Costa.

Evaluation Process

The evaluation process included a presentation by ISC, detailing the program’s criteria, relevant documentation, and the institution’s foundational vision and mission. This presentation aimed to provide the evaluation team with a comprehensive understanding of ISC’s commitment to quality education.

Site Visit

Following the presentation, the evaluation team undertook a site visit, which encompassed inspections of various campus facilities such as laboratories, classrooms, and libraries. This visit was designed to evaluate the resources that support the educational process.

Key participants in the event included Prof. Dr. Agostinho dos Santos Gonçalves, the Executive President of the Cristal Foundation, and Prof. Dr. Sebastião Pereira, the Rector of ISC. The presence of Vice Rectors, the Director of the Master’s Program, and the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences highlighted significant institutional backing for the evaluation.

Future Implications

The assessment is anticipated to serve as an initial step toward the establishment of new programs in the agricultural sector, addressing educational needs and contributing to community development. Through this evaluation, ISC aims to enhance its existing academic offerings and respond to current challenges, thereby creating new opportunities for students in various agricultural fields. The findings from this evaluation are expected to facilitate future improvements and innovations within the program.
