Movember 2025: Promoting Men’s Health Awareness at Universiti Brunei Darussalam

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) has initiated the Movember 2025 Awareness Campaign in collaboration with its health initiative, UniHEALTH, and the Student Affairs Section (HEP). This month-long program focuses on promoting awareness of men’s health and well-being among both students and staff.

Campaign Launch

The campaign commenced with introductory remarks from Dr. Deeni Rudita Idris, who serves as the Deputy Director of UniHEALTH and Co-Chairperson of Movember 2025. The event included a recitation of *Surah Al-Fatihah* and *Doa Selamat* by the participants.

Public Lecture

A significant component of the campaign featured a public lecture titled “Men and Anabolic Steroids: Gym Supplements and Health Effects,” delivered by Mr. Cheong Mun Khiong, Head of the Compliance and Licensing Section at the Department of Pharmaceutical Services, Ministry of Health. This lecture addressed issues related to the misuse of supplements and the potential impacts on men’s physical and mental health. An interactive dialogue followed, allowing participants to engage and address misconceptions about men’s health.

Upcoming Activities

The Movember Campaign includes various activities scheduled throughout November and December. A Walkathon in Blue on November 12 aimed to raise awareness about prostate cancer and promote active lifestyles within the university community. Additional highlights comprise a Mental Health Wellness Interactive Lecture and Grounding Technique Workshop, co-hosted by UniHEALTH and the Psychological First Aid Responders (PFAr) on November 14. A wellness talk titled “*Jom Ngopi & Sembang tentang Prostat dan Andropause*” is also planned for December 10, focusing on fostering discussion and reducing stigma surrounding men’s health issues.

Conclusion

The campaign’s opening event concluded with Dr. Mursidi Haji Ali, Dean of Students, presenting a certificate and token of appreciation to the guest speaker. The activities associated with the campaign reflect UBD’s commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive campus environment conducive to health and well-being.
