152 Graduates Celebrate PSU’s 46th Graduation Rites at School of Advanced Studies

On August 16, 2025, a graduation ceremony for 152 students from the School of Advanced Studies (SAS) at Pangasinan State University (PSU) took place at the Levo Hotel in Urdaneta City. This event marked the 46th commencement exercises of the institution, signifying an important milestone for the graduates.

Ceremony Overview

The afternoon ceremony began with a formal processional that included graduates, faculty members, campus officials, university executives, and members of the Board of Regents. Dr. Paulo V. Cenas, Executive Director of PSU-SAS, oversaw the presentation of graduates. Dr. Weenalei T. Fajardo, Vice President for Academics and Student Services, subsequently announced the total number of graduates.

Keynote Address

University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas delivered a keynote address, encouraging graduates to become thought leaders and innovators. He emphasized the significance of lifelong learning, technological fluency, and strong information literacy in a rapidly changing world, urging graduates to leverage these skills to positively influence their respective fields and communities.

Government Representatives’ Remarks

Local government representatives also offered remarks during the event. Pangasinan Governor Ramon V. Guico III, represented by Atty. Anafel Cruz-Lauraya, reminded graduates to uphold values of integrity, humility, and service.

Guest Speaker Insights

Honorable Brian Daniel Poe Llamanzares, a member of the 20th Congress and the event’s guest speaker, highlighted the importance of public service, motivating graduates to seize opportunities to serve their communities.

Conferral of Diplomas

The ceremony included the conferral of diplomas to recognize academic achievements. Dr. Crisanto T. Tomeldan expressed appreciation for the support graduates received from their families and faculty throughout their academic journeys.

Conclusion of the Ceremony

Concluding the event, participants recited the Pledge of Loyalty and the Oath of Commitment to the Alumni Association, symbolizing the graduates’ ongoing connection to their alma mater. The PSU Hymn was performed collectively, marking the graduates’ transition into the alumni community.
