UOW Malaysia Honors Shanice Tay for Outstanding Engineering Achievement

UOW Malaysia has honored Shanice Tay Shuen Nee, a graduate of the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering program, for her exemplary academic contributions. During the 66th Annual Dinner & Awards Night, held on April 19, 2025, Tay received the IEM Gold Medal Award 2024, recognizing her as the top final-year engineering student at the institution.

Acknowledgments and Achievements

Tay achieved a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.76 and was also awarded the Best Final Year Project during the EUReS Symposium 2024. Her project, which centered on the detection of mental stress using electroencephalogram (EEG) data and machine learning, was supervised by Ts. Dr. Goh Thing Thing, Dr. Khairul Azlan, and Mr. Mason Chua.

Impact on Engineering and Mental Health

The research not only advances technical understanding within engineering but also addresses significant issues in mental health. Furthermore, a paper detailing her findings has been accepted for publication in the Jurnal Kejuruteraan (Engineering Journal), a respected outlet in the Malaysian engineering research community.
